Women’s Participation in Entrepreneurship From an Islamic Perspective
Abstract

Abstract
Decades of international efforts have significantly reduced gender disparities in education, health, and the labor market. Nevertheless, gender inequality persists in various social dimensions, reflected in discriminatory practices and laws rooted in rigid gender-role norms. Women’s social environment is further challenged by conflicts, terrorist attacks, infectious diseases, climate change, and natural disasters. This paper aims to highlight both conventional and Islamic perspectives on women’s participation in entrepreneurial sectors. The study employs a qualitative approach through literature review, analysis of international policy frameworks, and normative interpretation of Islamic teachings, which emphasize social justice and the fulfillment of human rights. The analysis focuses on identifying structural, cultural, and normative barriers that hinder women’s involvement in entrepreneurship. The findings reveal that women’s engagement in entrepreneurship contributes significantly to global economic development and social progress. Their participation enhances economic growth, creates job opportunities, strengthens competitiveness, and fosters community development. Therefore, collaborative strategies based on universal values and Islamic principles are required to promote gender equality in entrepreneurial participation.
