Focus and Scope
International Journal of Islamic Education, Research and Multiculturalism (IJIERM) is an international, peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary scholarly journal dedicated to advancing research in Islamic Education, Islamic Studies, and Multicultural Studies. The journal particularly welcomes interdisciplinary research examining religious diversity, intercultural relations, educational development, and contemporary sociocultural transformations within Islamic and multicultural contexts.
IJIERM provides an international academic platform for scholars, researchers, educators, and practitioners to disseminate original research findings, develop theoretical perspectives, and engage in critical scholarly discussions on the intersections of Islamic education, religious thought, cultural diversity, and contemporary societal developments. The journal encourages rigorous and innovative scholarship that contributes to the advancement of knowledge, promotes interdisciplinary dialogue, and enriches academic understanding of religious and cultural diversity in local, national, regional, and global contexts.
A. Focus
IJIERM focuses on three interconnected and complementary areas of scholarship:
1. Islamic Education
This area encompasses theoretical, empirical, and interdisciplinary research addressing the philosophy, principles, policies, practices, and transformation of Islamic education. Particular attention is given to educational innovation, curriculum development, pedagogical approaches, educational leadership and management, institutional governance, character education, and the integration of Islamic values into contemporary educational systems. Research examining Islamic educational institutions, including pesantren, madrasahs, Islamic schools, and Islamic higher education institutions, is particularly encouraged.
2. Islamic Studies
This area emphasizes critical and interdisciplinary investigations into Islamic intellectual traditions, religious thought, philosophy, theology, ethics, Qur'anic and Hadith studies, Islamic law, and contemporary Islamic discourse. The journal welcomes scholarly contributions exploring the relationship between Islamic teachings and evolving social, cultural, educational, political, and institutional realities. Particular consideration is given to research demonstrating theoretical relevance, methodological rigor, and meaningful contributions to contemporary Islamic scholarship.
3. Multicultural Studies
This area focuses on theoretical and empirical research concerning multiculturalism, religious diversity, cultural pluralism, intercultural relations, religious moderation, minority experiences, social inclusion, and interreligious dialogue. The journal encourages investigations into cultural identity, social integration, tolerance, equality, and peaceful coexistence within religiously and culturally diverse societies. Comparative and cross-cultural studies addressing multicultural dynamics in Southeast Asia and other global contexts are particularly welcomed.

C. Interdisciplinary Research
IJIERM recognizes the importance of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches in addressing complex educational, religious, cultural, and social issues. The journal therefore welcomes research integrating perspectives from education, religious studies, sociology, anthropology, philosophy, communication, law, political science, and public policy. Interdisciplinary submissions must demonstrate a clear, substantive, and academically justified connection to at least one of the journal's three primary areas: Islamic Education, Islamic Studies, or Multicultural Studies. Such connections should be reflected in the research objectives, theoretical framework, methodology, findings, and scholarly contributions rather than merely stated in the title or abstract.
The journal particularly encourages comparative studies, theoretically informed empirical investigations, and context-sensitive research examining the relationships among religion, education, culture, and society.
D. Out of Scope
To maintain disciplinary coherence and academic quality, IJIERM does not consider manuscripts whose central research objectives fall outside its established focus. Studies primarily concerned with general business management, conventional finance, clinical medicine, biomedical experimentation, pharmaceutical sciences, agricultural production, engineering, material sciences, or other unrelated technical disciplines are outside the journal's scope unless they demonstrate a direct, substantive, and well-supported contribution to Islamic Education, Islamic Studies, or Multicultural Studies. Similarly, manuscripts addressing legal, political, economic, administrative, or communication issues without a meaningful connection to Islamic contexts, religious diversity, intercultural relations, or multicultural societies are generally considered outside the scope of the journal.
The inclusion of Islamic, religious, educational, or multicultural terminology alone does not establish the relevance of a manuscript. Scope alignment is assessed based on the study's substantive research questions, analytical framework, findings, and scholarly contributions.
E. Scholarly Contribution and Publication Priorities
IJIERM prioritizes manuscripts demonstrating originality, methodological rigor, conceptual clarity, theoretical relevance, and significant contributions to existing scholarly knowledge. The journal particularly encourages research that:
-

-

-
