Abstract

The broad coverage of sub-branches and in-depth material in each branch of IPS requires an organization of IPS in the curriculum that is applicable in Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to determine the organization of social studies in the curriculum so that the material that needs to be conveyed in learning is directed. This study uses a literature study method that relies on bibliographic sources from books and articles in scientific journals. 1) Organizing social studies in the curriculum. (a) separated subject curriculum. (b) correlate curriculum. (c) broad fields curriculum. (d) integrated curriculum. Integrated use since the 1975, 1986, 1994, 2004 and 2006 curricula is still used in SD and SMP, while in SMA the name IPS is no longer used because it has been organized separately (separated). 2) The SD / MI curriculum structure includes the learning substance taken in the education level for six years from grade 1 to grade 6. The SD / MI curriculum structure is structured based on Graduate Competencies and Competency Standards for subjects. 3) There are 3 differences in social studies in the 2006 curriculum with the 2013 curriculum, namely (a) changes in curriculum philosophy; (b) Balance between soft skills and hard skills; (c) reduction of the number of study hours and additional study hours.
